As far as people know, the only group of Censky's ameiva in the world lives on an island off the coast of Anguilla, also called locally Little Scrub Island. The Little Scrub Island is less than 0.049 km2 (12 acres) in size, which means an athletic field is only a bit smaller. "About 60% of Little Scrub Island is volcanic and coral reef bare rock; on the rest of the island, the rocks are covered with cactus-dominated vegetation".On such a small island with a cruel climate, only a few types of sea birds go there for a short stay during the breeding season. Besides that, around 250 Censky's ameiva can be said to be the only aboriginal. It is an endangered reptile species with only about 250 remaining worldwide and in great need of attention and protection.
